Arrival at the San Blas islands marks completion of the first leg of the circumnavigation .

Over the past 9 days, Coconut Woman has sailed over 1,100 nautical miles while crossing from Martinique to the San Blas islands. The crew reports arriving at their destination of El Porvenir island on January 27, 2015 at approximately 2:30 pm CST, 20:30 UTC. They are spending the night relaxing at anchor and enjoying the company of other Blue Planet Odyssey participants.

The crew reported light to moderate winds during the first half of the crossing, and high winds once they reached Columbian waters. They therefore sailed a mostly near-shore route to take advantage of calmer winds and sea states.

After various cultural, educational, and scientific ventures in the San Blas islands, the Blue Planet Odyssey boats will sail to Panama and transit the Panama Canal together en route to the Galapagos islands.
