Scientific partnerships announced

The Blue Planet Odyssey is now officially partnered with some of the most prestigious scientific organizations on the planet.

In an email to participants, organizer Jimmy Cornell announced that the Blue Planet Odyssey “, will be run under the auspices of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO and in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organisation and National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This official partnership recognises the invaluable contribution to scientific research that will be played by the Blue Planet Odyssey as you will be deploying autonomous scientific instruments, gathering and transmitting data from remote ocean areas from where there is an acute absence of up-to-date information on climatic conditions.

Coconut Woman and the other BPO ships will cruise through some of the least measured / studied areas of the planet’s oceans.

These partnerships ensure that data collected by their instruments and observations will be used by expert scientists as they put together the puzzle of the effects of global warming on the oceans
